I was watching TV and had a though about responsibility for my success or failure. This prompted me to start actually considering who is responsible my personal success and failure. Sure the easy answer would be “me”, but I really wanted to know what that meant.SURFER

Take a quick look with me as I check out what the meaning of responsibly is and how can it apply to my business and its raise and falls. Life is full of rises and falls, but we as entrepreneurs MUST learn to be good surfers on the tide.

There is no FAIL in this game, I don’t even have a quit button and you can’t either! As a surfer you have no control over the waters around you, but you can control how you ride that wave.  If nothing else, I am going to continue to be the one who holds the keys and keeps control. That is one aspect every good surfer MUST possess :-)

  • Wow, thanks all for your comments. I am so glad that there is at least some of us business owners out there that are "responsible business owners". You all make me glad to have been fortunate enough to catch up with you guys and hook up on Twitter.
  • Great Vid, John!

As much as we may not like the changes going on in our market place, it is ultimately up to us to do something about it. It is up to us whether to stay or to move on. We have chosen to stay with ebay for now and research a move as many already have done and many others are researching a move just like us.

We are fortunate enough that we own our products and do not owe anyone for them. If ebay tanks, it will not hurt us in any way. Will simply slow down our goals.

Please do not put yourself in a position where everything you have and do relies on the actions of others because you are ultimately the one responsible for your success or failure is YOU.
  • I appreciate this video, John. I have been trying to cut back on Twitter because for as much good advice and stuff on there, there is a lot of whining and negativity. Someone needs to smack these people upside the head. People are so quick to blame eBay or whoever for the problems in their business but, holy crow, it's YOUR business. If eBay isn't working, do something else! Don't just sit and cry about how eBay isn't working. If your business is so fragile that one tiny change from eBay cripples the whole thing, then, guess what, it wasn't that great a business model to start with.
  • John, one of your best vids yet -- I'll say "thought-provoking" and mean exactly that. In fact, now I'm about to bug you with a DM on twitter!
