This is sort of a carry over from the Follow Friday stuff. I was just thinking about good news/story sources on eBay. NOT the folks that are sellers, but more of the folks that actually Tweet stories or even write them about eBay.

This is NOT a top 10 list or even a popularity list, it is just my personal folks that I follow SPECIFICALLY for information on the goings on in eBay. There are many more that I can include, but this is all I felt like sharing this week. Plus it is the weekend and I want to take the rest of the day off … ENJOY!

You know I have a wierd view on many things, right? I am sure you all that follow this blog can attest to that. Well two of my Twitter friends responded to this post that I made…

Now keep in mind that these are friends of mine on Twitter and NEITHER of them go un-noticed by me, EVER. I know they were just making general statements on the topic and not about me. So yeah, we get that.

However it did make me want to respond in more than 140 characters so I started shooting this impromptu video.

Recently one of the best teachers and blogging mentors out there sent out a personal message. Michael Martine, the blogging and consulting coach from Remarkablogger, sent an email saying that he had had it! He was de-Google-fying his business.

Now for those of you who may not know Michael, he is has been doing this since the 90’s. He builds blogs, coaches bloggers and teaches with seminars and info products. What got my attention was his sincere urgency to get his business off the platform for the most part.

So I sent Michael a reply back, not really thinking he would respond and simply asked if I could use part of the email in a story. He RESPONDED back and said, he would even go a step further and do an interview. I was floored and jumped all over it! LMAO

Check out the man himself as he describes his position on his move off Google. But not only that, he begins to share the secrets to what makes a good blog, a great blogger and top advices for business blogging.

Yeah! Just had another eBay Townhall, and dammit those are just like Christmas time round these parts. You can shake the box but can never guess what’s inside until you open it. LMAO

Oh, BTW I do not think there were any issues with the Auctiva virus that hit ads over the weekend. The whole thing seems to have totally been some made up vapor ware stuff…NOT!!! S.O.S. (same ol’ s***) pretend like it never happened and abracadabra, you have been hypnotized, it never happened.

I LOVE how they do that, if they could do that with the FVF increases, life would be so grand. HEY wave that magic wand over my taxes in April would you, Dinesh? LMAO

Any way, I got a few point and take-aways, like to hear them? PUSH PLAY!

Are you listening to the social media “reporters” and community? WELL you had better start! Auctiva, the eBay 3rd Party developer, have now got their ears on! They are listing to YOU, they heard YOU and they responded to YOU!!! I was just the guy that took the call.

After yesterday’s informative and balanced call, on the B.S. Walks show, thanks to an informed user community. Auctiva reached out to us here at ColderICE.com and agreed to come on a call with your boy! They did NOT ask for anything scripted, they simply wanted to talk about the situation with the virus and what they LEARNED about communication in a social media world.

This is a call with the DIRECTOR of Marketing, Spenser Smith that I just wrapped up about 15 minutes ago and it is VERY reveling, open and honest. I can only imagine now how this must have been from the inside looking out. Man, Spenser gives us much insight. And he also talks about how things that worked in the “old days” for communication, simply are NOT ready for prime time Web 2.0.

Listen as he details how his team scrambled from inception to communicate with the community in the old ways, but alas, they STILL saw it escalate due to the lack of a social media communications component. “We”, you and I and all of the tools like Twitter, Facebook and blogs are the NEW medium and will no longer be overlooked by AUCTIVA!

The are ready, willing and able to make changes internally and that is a GREAT thing. Auctiva, is a BETTER company in spite of the hurdle. This is a lesson in social media, played out in real time. And any company that is willing to embrace the communication platforms of social media will, by the nature of that acknowledgement, be MUCH better for it. THANK YOU SPENCER and AUCTIVA!

Wow, we got a new “intelligent” President, a Clinton back in power, an Indian movie sweeps the Oscars and Randy Smythe working for Buy.com?!? Now that is change! LMAO

So it has been a little over 4 weeks since Randy went venturing to the “other” side of things. I check in with my friend to see how things are over there. He is such a great guy to chat with ALL THE TIME, and this one is NO LESS exciting that all the other calls we have done (more Randy Smythe Interviews and stories).

The big topic on this call is the eBay’s TOP secret, Top Seller conference. Randy crashed the party, LMAO and now gives us his take on the state of things.
