Should You De-Googlefy Your Life and Your Business? @Remarkablogger Speaks!
Recently one of the best teachers and blogging mentors out there sent out a personal message. Michael Martine, the blogging and consulting coach from Remarkablogger, sent an email saying that he had had it! He was de-Google-fying his business.
Now for those of you who may not know Michael, he is has been doing this since the 90’s. He builds blogs, coaches bloggers and teaches with seminars and info products. What got my attention was his sincere urgency to get his business off the platform for the most part.
So I sent Michael a reply back, not really thinking he would respond and simply asked if I could use part of the email in a story. He RESPONDED back and said, he would even go a step further and do an interview. I was floored and jumped all over it! LMAO
Check out the man himself as he describes his position on his move off Google. But not only that, he begins to share the secrets to what makes a good blog, a great blogger and top advices for business blogging.

John, you keep finding these people who agree with me. He’s so right. That’s why I use Outlook for email, my blog is self-hosted, I use Excel for all but one thing that’s in Google docs (but backed up to my computer). I like having my own stuff on my own computer…with everything backed up online in case of disaster.
I love having people that I both agree and disagree with in my circle of influence. It keeps me fair, balanced and ABLE to make informed rational decisions.
I think he’s a little paranoid. There’s a lot to be said for having all your stuff in one place with one vendor in terms of sheer convenience. Not all of us want to tinker with separate applications and configurations. I am not too concerned about Google failing as a company too (naive? I don’t think so; they’ve moved firmly into the technology mainstream).
Agree with his points about Google Reader vs Twitter though. I am beginning to ‘get’ Twitter and its potential (finally), follow the right folks and you can learn lotsa stuff.
