  3. Rapportive - This neat little Firefox add-on is a MUST HAVE for Gmail users!! Use this tool to get personal with your customers and keep that customer for life.
  4. Wibiya - This little toolbar is perfect for blogs or websites. You can add translation tools, testimonials, search, twitter, facebook, and many other tools that will help keep your customers interactive with you and your website.

Tramcar transmission Chicago business license You Dont Have One? WTH?!? Where to Get A Business Licenses to Operate in Your StateIn my course of advising many small to medium ecommerce business I run across dozens of them that are actually operation "illegally"! I am surprised by the number of them that are in violation of state and local laws by not have a simple $20-$50 license. But worse than that, they limit their access to go quality wholesale opportunities because they are still running the business like a hobby….#FAIL folks!

Every business needs one or more federal, state or local licenses or permits to operate. Licenses can range from a basic operating license to very specific permits, (e.g., environmental permits).

Regulations vary by industry, state and locality, so it’s very important to understand the licensing rules where your business is located. Not complying with licensing and permitting regulations can lead to expensive fines and put your business at serious risk.

Federal Licenses and Permits

If your business is involved in activities supervised and regulated by a federal agency, you may need to obtain a federal license.

State Licenses and Permits

Many types of businesses need to obtain some type of business or professional/occupational license or permit from a state government. Choose a state to find out about specific license and permit requirements in the state where your business is located.

Tips for Maintaining Your Business License

    • When signing up for a license, permit or registration, keep track of those that need to be renewed on a regular basis and keep a calendar of renewal dates.
    • Maintain a copy of all licensing applications and forms in your business records.
    • Make sure you follow rules for displaying your licenses or permits. Most states and localities require business to prominently display their business licenses so customers can see them.
    • If you are thinking of expanding your business, whether it be expanding your building or launching a new product or service, you may need additional business licenses.

As many of you know I shoot my videos in my crowded office space. A while ago I had a very talented videographer suggest to my that I should get a backdrop so I could remove the "clutter" in my video backgrounds.

I gave it some serious consideration and then rejected the idea for 2 reasons. The first reason was because I felt it added validity to the fact that I not only "talk the game, but I walk the talk" and 2nd was selfish in that I did not want all the hassle of setting up my video screens each time I wanted to talk.

Boy, that picture is a WOW’er isn’t it? LOL :-)   But lets get to the point here. You want your business to strive, be successful and profitable and every once in a while it needs some adjustments. Be sure that your choice for information and education comes from those who know what they are doing and are doing it to success! Anyone can slide under the car (well she can’t) but it is the work that counts. As pretty as those legs are, would you trust her to fix your breaks? Probably not!

diesel-mechanicThis is your business and it pays for your life, do a little due diligence when it comes to the web. Just because someone has a keyboard and a blog that does NOT mean they know what the hell they are talking about. What history do they have in business? How is their business going? What is the status of their success? While I can appreciate good fiction, I am NOT looking for it in business writing. Choose your advice and your advisors carefully. Check their fingernails, before you let them under the hood!!!

If you find your self going from broke and having nothing, to self made and independent. DO NOT go back. Well at least don’t go back without kicking and screaming!

The FREEDOM of being self-made is way more valuable than the money. NEVER forget that, it is the freedom that allows us to make the money. Spending 8 hours working for someone else and spending your most precious assets…the mind, on other folks stuff? OMG that is what makes you successful!

Don’t not give up that freedom, give the credit cards back, sell the car and HUSTLE. But whatever you do, don’t give up that freedom lightly. That is the key to your business success. For me, the freedom has to be the last resort. I left the plantation with no intention of ever going back…I will sell fruit on the corner first! I love my freedom.

But in business you really should not make it "your baby". You should not be that attached to your business tools (blog, processes, products, website, logo, etc.) You have got to REMOVE the PERSONAL!

Comments about your business can not be taken personally. How in the world can a business survive if it is your "baby" and as such, immune to criticism? Dude, just check out the Ugly Baby video, LMAO!

It is not true that fish will only grow to fit their tank. This is an "old wives’ tale" and one of the most common myths about fish today. This misinformation is perpetuated by the fact that most fish will die before they visibly outgrow the tank they are housed in.

So what do that mean in business? Check out the video…
