On November 17, Amazon launched a pilot program to allow select media product offers to win placement in a new feature we call the Buy Used Box. Each category will roll out over the following weeks starting with video and DVD.
Wow, now you can sell used items on Amazon right on the product page! Used goods have been available on Amazon for a while, but it was a very unfriendly, dark, back of the alley, level of clicks. I would equate it to going around and knocking on the back door of a retail location to get the previously owned goods.
Not all media product detail pages will display a Buy Used Box during the pilot period. Amazon will be evaluating customer response to this new feature in order to determine future expansion or refinement to create a better online buying experience. All criteria below are subject to change by Amazon at any time
The "Buy Used Box" works much like, and is positioned just below, the Buy Box on a product detail page. It gives customers a quick way to initiate the purchase process by adding a "Used" media item to their shopping carts.
Only qualified sellers may compete for the Buy Used Box. Qualification is evaluated on the following criteria.
Only Pro Merchants who sell media and subscribe to the Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) service can compete for the Buy Used Box.
Sellers can learn more about signing up for the FBA service in your Seller Account and on the amazonservices.com website.
For those sellers that qualify to compete for the Buy Used Box, their product listings are evaluated based on factors chosen in an effort to give customers the best shopping experience.
Product qualifications include:
Condition: The item must be in "Like New," "Very Good," or "Good" condition.
Media: The item must be classified under Books, Music, Video or DVD categories.
Fulfillment: The item must be fulfilled using the FBA service. For media items in "New" condition, only those sold and fulfilled by Amazon are eligible to win the Buy Box. Customers should expect the same fulfillment options and level of customer service, regardless of whether the item is new or used. Sellers are able to meet this expectation by using the FBA service.
This could be another game changer for the eBay vs Amazon wars. Exposure for your used media had been extremely obscure prior to now. Of course this does require the merchant to use FBA services, which means a BIGGER chunk for Amazon on the back end. However sellers with mass inventory could really see large gains now that used items are being shipped via Amazon and qualifying for Amazon Prime shipping.
I told you this heavyweight championship match between Amazon vs. eBay was going to be fun to watch.
There are people who will tell you that it is possible to create a viral campaign that will certainly be a hit, and there are agencies specializing in taking money and making promises. But I’ve noticed that when organizations (and their agencies) set out to go viral, the vast majority of their campaigns fail.
It is virtually impossible to create a Web marketing program that is guaranteed to go viral; it requires a huge amount of luck and timing. That’s an important point to remember as you work on viral marketing ideas, because it’s unlike the old-rules, numbers-based marketing techniques you’re probably used to. Consider a direct mail campaign: You could always count on a direct mail piece to generate a known number of responses, say 2 percent. So if you needed to have 100 people respond, you sent out 5,000 mailers. Easy, right?
Viral marketing is much different. You just can’t count on numbers in the same way. Many efforts fail miserably, and there are countless Web sites, e-books, and videos that only their creators’ mothers and bosses have seen. However, tomorrow those same marketers might get lucky and get a million people to view their content, driving tens of thousands of people’s interest in their products and services.
However, this importance of timing and luck shouldn’t discourage you from using viral marketing techniques; you just need to learn how to turn the odds in your favor.
I was at an event yesterday and they asked me to stand up and give 1 tip or takeaway to be successful at business. I HATE when they do that to me! Why? Because I could give at least 20 GREAT tips, LMAO
But the limited me to only one and this is what I told them. Immediately after getting back I made this video, cause I do not think I have ever said this before on the website.
Hey guys, I got my new toy! I am excited to have received a new camera in the mail today. Looks like doing the web cam may get even more fun and creative.
Earlier in the year I shared with you some tips for making a good video HERE. So this could be part duex as video continues to make its way to blogs and actual vloggers like me get more air play
Today MTV released a portal at MTV Music web that has videos. Imagine that, MTV used to play videos?!? So I had my high school moment relived and watched dozens of vids today. But I had to stop and thing about this one…
Come on, this one launched MTV and what was a pretty neat song ended up becoming rather prophetic. Sure radio is still a medium for music but NOTHING like it was in the years prior to MTV and videos. Now even MTV is becoming obsolete since all the vids are on the web, LOL.
This video got me thinking about blogs and videos. So I came up with the catchy title and well….made a video telling you guys how I make videos. Enjoy…
Not because he is skilled, intelligent, qualified, transforming, or any of that. Nah, I am voting for him just because he is Black, LMAO
I hate that crap, like just cause I am Black I have no brain at all, LOL. Anyway, I do not like to mix business and politics, because there really is not a happy medium and one does not really reflect the processes and thinking of another.
My business has folks on both sides of the tickets and we all respect and love each other without all the nonsense that seems to be going on with negative this and negative that. I guess sanity in working relationship starts with the “boss” and I will not allow the bullsh*t on my watch.
This vid was sent to me and it was just TOO GOOD not to share it, they really took some time and thought and the final result is stunning!
Today I want to share with you my feelings on what is going on in American economics. But more importantly what is going to save your business in troubling times and economic uncertainty. From a good webinar that I attended yesterday, I have compiled my 10 Things You Must Do to Protect Your Business in Bad Times.
While some of them may seem like common sense practices….guess what, they ARE! It is time to get back to basics and reestablish the firm foundations and principles that make good business sense. Here are the 10 Things You Must Do to Protect Your Business in Bad Times.
Yeah!!! for all of you that got your mag today and for those of you who may have been left off the mailing list…Let’s leaf through it together. The eBay Power UP Magazine is sent out quarterly to eBay sellers to aid them in getting the best from selling on eBay. This should be fun and we will get all the juicy information to get our business up to par for the holiday season..yeah!
So you have all your online stuff up and running. You have the best titles, descriptions and SEO tricks on your stuff. Now it is time to ship the package to the customer. What are you doing at that point to extend the brand and bring the customer back to you? I do most of the front end work at 3rd Power Outlet. My job is to make the ad, find the products, write the description and blah blah blah.
But the MOST important experience happens when that item is purchased. See, once someone buys an item from you the REAL experience begins! That is when the rubber hits the road and how you come off to the customer is 99% when they OPEN the package not when they see the ad! So check out this video as I speak about some ideas I got from an item I bought on eBay the other day and see how putting stuff in the box and taking time to brand your labels can pay off for you.
